Casey has completed many projects already. And is always working on new projects. Of course, the MixCase Saga continues between these ongoing projects. For more information on those, go to the MixCase Page. For some other projects, you can find more information here.
In 1996 Casey was the Chief Engineer of a local Dutch radio station, Radio 101. Because of a special broadcasting Casey thought that it would be nice to create a one-hour dance mix. The Radio 101 Classics Journey. It took him months to create this mix. There was no software to determine the key or the BPM of a track, it had to be done manually. And Ableton? No one had ever even thought of such software…
The ix was broadcasted twice. The first time on Radio 101 and the second time on Dutch Radio Veronica, as a part of the In The Mix show, hosted by Ben Liebrand. One of the greater moments in Casey’s life, who happens to be a big Ben Liebrand fan…

This is where it all started (again) with. After years of not doing anything in the music-production-scene, it started to itch again…
This resulted in a trance track “Grapevine” based on “I Heard It Through The Grapevine” of the late Marvin Gaye. Initially, also with the voice of Marvin Gaye himself because Kees happened to have the acapella of this track.
The project was given the name Dutch Dance Company.
Unfortunately, Casey failed to get the track cleared by Universal Publishing (so there was no permission to use the voice of Marvin Gaye on a commercial base). He did not give up however, and contacted Sam Dewit, one of the singers of the famous Dutch R&B formation Re-Play. Sam gave his voice to the track, but unfortunately the track was never released. The moment had already passed. Casey attempted to make another version of “Grapevine” with Sam, see Project 3 for this.
This project consists of a remake of King Floyd’s disco hit Groove Me. In 1979 high in the charts by Fern Kinney. Casey has always had an indescribable link to this track, after he first heard it in a mix by Ben Liebrand. The project began as an assignment for the course Casey was following at Pyntago at that time. He made a completely new track, with different instruments and different melodies.
Not entirely coincidentally Casey came into contact with Shamira. A brilliant singer with a beautiful voice, and a candidate in the program Idols.
In February 2010 Casey and Shamira went to record Shamira’s vocals at the studio of Richard Berendsen Oud Lammers (Studio It’s Possible), because Casey did not have the capability to record vocals in his own studio at that time. It was Shamira’s first recording session ever, and they had an afternoon of fun and laughter! However, the vocals were recorded perfectly on tape.
The recorded vocals and the new track were blended together, resulting in a brand new track: Dutch Dance Company ft. Shamira – Groove Me.
Sam Dewit, one of the singers of the famous Dutch R&B band Re-Play, already had worked with Casey in the first Grapevine project, singing the vocals for the original track. Unfortunately, that production didn’t make it. Sam, however, thought it was a great track. And liked to re-do the whole thing, but with a completely different sound.
The first grapevine production, the Dutch Dance Company, is a trancy track. Sam, though, wanted a more funky, groovy sound, as a DJ would use.
So the Grapevine story started again, from scratch. Nothing from the first version was reused. The song breathed a completely different atmosphere, as was intended to. The track was reduced in tempo and lowered in pitch. And therefore the vocals had to be re-recorded. So Casey and Sam went again to Studio It’s Possible, to re-record the vocals in November 2010.
After the mixdown of the song track it was bound to appear on Sam’s new album. Unfortunately, the number did not meet up with the expectations Sam had. It was simply not good enough. But produced a fun time and a great deal of experience! More information about Sam can be found at his Facebook Page!
At one point Kees comes into contact with Martin Boer, one of the creators and producers of 2 Brothers on the 4th Floor, a world renowned duo from the 90. In fact, Martin was one of the two brothers … They were very successful in more than 20 countries!
One of the most successful tracks was “Never Alone”.
Martin’s plan was to create a new album, as a comeback. And on that album the greatest classics of the 2 Brothers would be placed in a remixed edition.
At the request of Martin Casey made a remake of the song Never Alone. In style of the musical ideas prevailing at that time, interspersed with a touch of the nineties.
For the same album Casey made a remake of the song “Dreams”, another smash hit from the 90s.
So far, the album has not been released yet. The question is whether this will happen after all.
Since 2012 Kees regularly produces soundtracks for Jos Wilms, the driving force behind Statues Alive. In 2012 Jos came in 2nd in the TV program Holland’s Got Talent.
Statues Alive is a mobile street theatre and Living Statues act. But then in a pretty advanced creative stage. For his shows, Jos often needs tailor-made sound effects and sound clips. These are created and customized at Casey’s Music Company. E.g. a complete voiceover production, where the story of the Little Princess (in Dutch and English, with the voice of Shamira) is told. Or a production with vocoder voices (robotic voices) for Role-E, a fully independent operating wheelchair that provides a lot of street entertainment. Check the Statues Alive Youtube page for an impression of The Little Princess en Rol-E.
For the 2016 act “Geer de Brandweer” (Geer the Fireman) Casey also produced the soundtrack and a handfull of sound-effects. Check this Geer de Brandweer for a preview of the act.
This is a special story about Clinton Young. A death row prisoner in a cell in Texas, USA. However, Clinton is innocent, he has not commit the crime (of a double murder) for which he is punished.
Alex Buitenwerf is concerned about the fate of Clinton. And supports the Clinton Foundation. The Clinton Young Foundation is a charity that raises awareness and is fighting injustice regarding death penalty cases. All information can be found on the website save an innocent life.
Alex had planned to create a song that could be used to raise funds for the foundation, and approached Casey to help him produce the track. Casey agreed immediately. Alex arranged a rapper, Talionis, and Casey arranged a singer. Shamira (of course, …). The music is written and produced by Casey. The text is from Clinton himself, somewhat edited to fit into the song. The track has been recorded and available via different platforms like Beatport and iTunes.
All proceeds are guaranteed 100% in favor of the Clinton Foundation!
You can listen to the US Radio Edit of the track here:
“Bloedbroeders” (Bloodbrothers) is a documentary/miniseries by the VARA (a Dutch broadcasting company) that was broadcasten on Dutch public TV in March/April 2015. In Blood Brothers a Turkish-Dutch journalist (Sinan Can) and an Armenian-Dutch musical actor (Ara Halici) investigate how their family was involved in the Turkish massacre of the Armenians 100 years ago. This documentary/road movie take Sinan and Ara traveling through Turkey and Armenia; from Istanbul to Yerevan.
Kees Schaap and Anja van Oostrom are responsible for this series. Kees Schaap saw Juliette and Sander Koopman make music together on a camping, and thought it would be nice if they would write the title track for this series. Haro Slok accompanied this duo and together they made the song Bloodbrothers.
The track was further elaborated in Casey’s studio, and recorded and produced by him. Besides the title track (for TV broadcasts), there is also a single edit available. A beautiful song. Get your copy at iTunes.
Keet! is the name of the face of the Dutch children’s channel Telekids on RTL 8. Since 2013, the role of Keet! is played by Janouk Kelderman.
Commisioned by 8ball Music BV, a new version of the Cha Cha Slide was made for Keet!. A Dutch-languaged songtext was written, and a complete new arrangemant has been made for Keet! RTL Nederland made a videoclip to complete te new track, which you can watch on Keet’s YouTube Channel
This production is a cooperation between Casey, Sven van Veen en Ronald de Bas.
After the track “Bloodbrothers” it tasted like more…
Juliette Koopman’s golden voice and the guitarplay of her brother Sander come together again in a new production with the title “Stronger”. A fantastic dramatic track that was produced by Casey for Haro Slok again.
The track is not available online yet, because there are more plans onwhich we can’t comment right now…
Since 2012 Kees works on a regular base with various other producers, composers and artists in various productions.
As long as these productions are works in progress, they will not be published at this site.
There is collaboration including DJ Sven, Haro Slok, Francisco Morales, Ronald Bass, and various singers. Meanwhile the studio Kees has been provided with the means to record vocals, so all productions made entirely in-house.
In between, various productions are made, demo’s recorded and mixwork is done for various clients. To stay up to date you should check Casey’s Facebook Page on a regular base.
